What Were They Thinking? Brit Awards 2014

24 Feb

Wednesday February 9th marked the 2014 Brit Awards.áThis is theááBritish equivalent of the American Grammy Awards. Although there were many beautiful get ups that graced us on the red carpet, there were some that left us saying ” What were they thinking? ” Here are the worst of áthe worst.

First up is Laura Mvula’s white and black high low dress. First off it’s way too short and does not flatter her at all. The fit was terrible and the feathered bottom is just ugly. The whole time I was waiting for her to start the Can Can dance. áOn a positive note, at least her shoes were cute

Lily Allen looked fabulous in her black dress that she wore during the awards show, it’s what she wore to the aftershow that was scary. The bright pink tafetta like dress is hideous and topping it off with an orange lacy bra just made it down right horrible. How can someone put this outfit on and think this looks good? She needs to fire her stylist stat!

Lastly there’s singer Jessie James. I am a huge fan of jumpsuits, but only when they are done right. Unfortunately this was not! To start, the color washes her out and the tight fit and low cut is just trashy. She definitely has the body for it , but I think she needs to try a classier silhouette. And honestly what is with the lilac colored lipstick?

Herve Leger by Max Azria: NYFW Fall 2014

17 Feb

Herve Leger is one of my favorite designers and on Feb. 8 he debut his new 2014 Fall collection at NYFW. He is famously known for his bandage style, body hugging dresses and I am a giant fan! During his show I saw the same silhouettes, but with a twist of naughty and nice. He was heard describing his collection as:

“Diffusing the line between fantasy and reality. Nature-inspired textures are digitally transformed into 3-D jacquards and pixelated metal beading. Contrasting bandages and cage-corset belts frame and define the form. Shieded in arctic furs and exotic feathers, she is fearless and confident.”

This collection has something for everyone and I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a couple of these pieces.

Victoria Beckham NYFW Fall 2014

13 Feb

Victoria Beckham has been a style icon of mine since she was Posh Spice in the Spice Girls. Her fashion sense has definitely gotten better with age and she rocked it with the debut of her Fall/Winter 2014 Collection at New York Fashion Week. Her collection had a variety of masculinity meets feminity. It includedáátailored coats, loose-fitting trousersáand modest skirts. áShe kept the colors very classic with Black, White and small pops of red. Here are a few of my favorite looks!

February 6th marked the first day ofáNew York Fashion Week Fall 2014. áEveryone who is anyone in the industry flocked the streets of New York City to see designers new upcoming Fall lines. The Heart Truth Red Dress Show kicked off the festivities and left everyone seeing red. The month of February is American heart month and the American Heart Association sponsors this red dress show to bring awareness to the issue of heart disease among women. Here are my top pics!

Kat Graham looked phenomenal in this long sleeve snakeskin detailed dress by Mathieu Mirano. This piece is definitely daring and can’ t be worn by everyone. Her hair pulled back is the perfect do to emphasize this statement dress.

Victoria Justice sparkled down the catwalk in this floral applique Oscar De La Renta number. The style and fit worked perfectly for her silhouette and the minimal accessories just tied everything together.
